Well, it's been awhile.

Obviously it has. I just don't do very well on this whole "blogging" thing. But I'm trying. I'm still just into day two of my newest (and only second attempt) blog. This is the one I deem my "serious" blog, one that really touches at the heart of the issues and thoughts I ponder. I just know I'll have something to contribute soon. In point of fact, and hopefully I have that phrase correct, I have something that I wrote a few months ago that would qualify.

And tomorrow... sometime after I fully awaken, perhaps I'll even get around to typing it. But we'll see how ambitious I feel after having only 4.5hrs of sleep, and dealing with a puke-y child.

So here's what gets me. Christians all over who are not part of the 700 Club look at some of the things Pat Robertson says with disdain, and feel that he's not following the way that the Bible speaks (lovey-dovey and the like). Yet, he quotes the Bible. WTF is up with that? Can't these other Christians SEE that he's merely stating the sorts of things that the BIBLE says to do? Don't they READ their Bibles? God is not a kind and loving-of-all-peoples god. He's a selfish, vengeful and merciless god. How can anyone follow something like that? It boggles my mind.

And here's a delightful excerpt from the cbn.com website:
"Before the president's announcement, I had the privilege of going over a briefing book that was provieded by the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ). The book contained a short list of justice candidates who fit the president's judicial philosophy, and I am delighted to say that John Roberts was at the top of this list, though at the time, we thought the president would select a woman to replace Justice O'Connor.

"This man is superbly qualified. He has personally litigated 39 cases before the Supreme Court. He is a distinguished jurist and one of the most highly-regarded judicial scholars in America. When you look at the life of this man and his measured approach to the law, his confirmation should be assured."

Also on this page, is a "prayer points" list. The first one reads:

"Pray that the person God desires would be appointed to the Supreme Court."

This totally made me laugh. I mean, come on. Wouldn't it be hilarious if someone ELSE were picked for the seat? Or at the very least that Roberts wouldn't rule as they hope he would? (One of the points they hope for is that Roe vs Wade be overturned.)

Another delightful prayer point is:
"Pray that the Ten Commandments would be more than just an historical memorial for the justices of the Supreme Court, but that their truth would reign in their hearts."

I'm sorry, but their religion should have no place in their rulings. They should rule based upon the law, and not their personal opinions, and anyone who does so should be removed, IMO.

A's Ramblings

Another day, another... headache. The norm. Nothing really unusual. Joined some mostly atheist Yahoo! groups, but didn't realize that the messages had to be approved for newbies. Apparently they get a lot of spam. So I have to wait and hope that the conversation doesn't die before my 10 messages, give or take, are sent to the group. Damn moderators. If I were as inactive on my own group as these ones seem to be... I'd be up shit creek. *sigh*

Anyway, that's about it. Joel leaves on the 3rd, pretty much. They don't actually leave to sea until the 5th, but the 3rd is his duty day, and then the next day they start up (which means he has to stay). That sucks ass. Hopefully, though, he'll get to come home in the morning, which would be nice.

Yay! More rambling! Perhaps one of these days I'll actually bother to write down some other thoughts. And... *gasp* maybe I'll even give out my blog address to someone other than myself. *laugh*

Stranger things have happened...

Uh... yeah.

Well, not like I have anything of import to say at this very moment. Never blogged before. To be honest I just wanted to post a reply, and this was a requirement, so... here I am.

Maybe I'll get around to posting eventually. Probably not, though. Guess we'll see (or I will, anyhow) if I can find the time to do it. I'm sure if I do it will mostly be ramblings, and probably offensive to religious people who might possibly venture my way. Ah, well. Can't please everyone all of the time, right?

I'll just leave a few quotes for now. Quotes that really strike into the heart of how I've been feeling of late.

"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do.
When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand
why I dismiss yours."
-Stephen Roberts

"I'm a polyatheist - there are many gods I don't believe in."
-Dan Fouts

"It is an interesting and demonstrable fact, that all children are atheists and
were religion not inculcated into their minds, they would remain so."
-Ernestine Rose

"A thorough reading and understanding of the Bible is the surest path to atheism."
-Donald Morgan

"The Old Testament is responsible for more atheism, agnosticism, disbelief-call
it what you will-than any book ever written; it has emptied more churches than all
the counterattractions of cinema, motor bicycle and golf course."
-A.A. Milne

And with that, I'll leave you to yourselves (-self).
